Nothing Phone 4a Pro First Look: Slimmest Nothing Phone Yet Arrives With A Stunning Surprise

Nothing's slimmest phone yet impresses with its metal unibody design and powerful camera system.

Technology company Nothing has introduced the Nothing Phone 4a Pro as its latest mid-range smartphone, marking the brand’s official entry into a price segment that was once dominated in India by OnePlus. The device was unveiled during a global launch event in London and forms part of the company’s new 4a series lineup alongside the standard Nothing Phone 4a. The launch reflects Nothing’s strategy to strengthen its presence in the competitive mid-range smartphone market, which remains highly price-sensitive in India and other emerging markets.

The Nothing Phone 4a Pro is priced starting at ₹39,999 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. Additional configurations include an 8GB RAM and 256GB storage model priced at ₹42,999 and a 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant priced at ₹45,999. Meanwhile, the base Nothing Phone 4a starts at ₹31,999 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage option and goes up to ₹37,999 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. The pricing places the Pro model directly in the segment where mid-range smartphones once gained significant traction in the Indian market, intensifying competition among brands targeting performance-focused users.

One of the most notable aspects of the Nothing Phone 4a Pro is its redesigned build. Unlike previous devices from Nothing known for their transparent aesthetic, the new model adopts a metal unibody design. The device measures 7.95mm in thickness, making it the slimmest smartphone released by the company so far. It weighs about 210 grams and is offered in black, silver, and pink colour options, with the pink variant drawing particular attention for its distinctive finish. Despite the shift away from a fully transparent design, the device retains a signature transparent camera module that integrates the company’s Glyph lighting system.

The smartphone features a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution, a 450 pixels-per-inch density, and a 144Hz refresh rate. It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i and supports a peak brightness of up to 5,000 nits. A distinctive highlight remains the Glyph Matrix lighting system, which consists of 137 mini-LEDs embedded into the camera module. According to the company, the lighting system can reach brightness levels of around 3,000 nits and also supports interactive features known as Glyph Toys, which add visual notification and customisation capabilities.

In terms of hardware, the Nothing Phone 4a Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset. The phone also includes a large vapour cooling system and carries an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance. Its rear camera setup includes a 50-megapixel primary sensor using the Sony LYT700x with optical image stabilisation, accompanied by a 50-megapixel telephoto lens capable of up to 140x ultra zoom. An additional ultra-wide camera is also included, though full specifications have not yet been disclosed. On the front, the device features a 32-megapixel selfie camera designed for video calls and photography.

The device runs on Nothing OS 4.1 based on Android 16 and is powered by a battery rated at around 5,080mAh with support for 50W wired charging. While early hands-on impressions suggest smooth multitasking and a strong focus on design, a comprehensive evaluation of performance, camera quality, and battery life will become clearer once full reviews are published. With the company confirming that it will not release a flagship smartphone this year, the 4a Pro is expected to play a central role in Nothing’s product strategy for 2026.
