Moto G67 Power, Realme P4x 5G Among India's Best Phones Under Rs 25,000

Top-performing smartphones offering excellent value below Rs. 25,000.

India's smartphone market in the sub-Rs. 25,000 segment is witnessing increasing pressure as rising component costs, particularly memory prices, reshape consumer choices and manufacturer strategies. Devices that once comfortably fit into the mid-range category have become more expensive, while several budget smartphones have moved into higher price brackets. As a result, buyers looking for feature-rich smartphones within a Rs. 25,000 budget now have fewer fresh options compared to previous years.

Industry analysts say the increase in memory and storage component costs has had a significant impact on smartphone pricing worldwide. Manufacturers have responded by either increasing retail prices or limiting hardware upgrades in newer models. This has blurred the distinction between budget and mid-range smartphones, with many devices offering specifications that would previously have been associated with lower price segments. Consumers now often have to compromise on premium features such as advanced cameras, faster processors or extended software support when shopping within this budget.

Despite these challenges, several smartphones continue to offer competitive value through a combination of AMOLED displays, large batteries, fast charging and 5G connectivity. Brands including Motorola, Realme, Poco, Redmi and others remain active in this segment, focusing on delivering practical everyday performance rather than flagship-level features. Buyers are increasingly prioritising long battery life, smooth displays, durable designs and reliable performance over premium materials or advanced photography capabilities. Software update commitments have also emerged as an important factor, with many consumers seeking devices that will remain secure and receive new Android versions for several years.

Another noticeable trend is the growing importance of durability and design. Even affordable smartphones now commonly feature water- and dust-resistance ratings, high-refresh-rate displays and larger batteries exceeding 5,000mAh. However, manufacturers often offset these improvements by using polycarbonate construction or limiting camera hardware to keep production costs under control. While these trade-offs may be acceptable for everyday users, buyers seeking a more premium experience may find better long-term value by extending their budget into the Rs. 30,000 segment, where devices generally offer stronger processors, improved cameras and longer software support.

The sub-Rs. 25,000 smartphone category continues to remain one of India's most competitive markets despite current pricing pressures. As global supply chains stabilise and component costs ease, consumers could see more competitively priced launches in the coming months. Until then, prospective buyers are advised to compare software support policies, processor performance, battery life and display quality carefully before making a purchase, rather than relying solely on specifications or introductory pricing.
