Google Pixel 11 Tipped to Beat iPhone 18 Pro With Samsung's Latest M16 OLED Display

The Google Pixel 11 is tipped to debut Samsung's M16 OLED display ahead of the iPhone 18 Pro.

Google is reportedly preparing to launch its next-generation Pixel 11 series with a major display upgrade, potentially making it the first smartphone lineup to feature Samsung Display’s new M16 OLED panel. The move could give the Pixel lineup a rare technological edge over competitors, including upcoming flagship devices from Apple.

According to industry reports, the Pixel 11 series is expected to debut as early as August, ahead of the anticipated release of the iPhone 18 Pro. If confirmed, this would mark a shift in industry trends, where Samsung’s latest display innovations have traditionally been introduced first in Apple’s premium devices or Samsung’s own Galaxy S series.

The M16 OLED panel is designed to deliver enhanced colour accuracy, improved brightness, and better energy efficiency. These upgrades are particularly significant as modern smartphones increasingly rely on power-intensive features such as artificial intelligence and high-refresh-rate displays. The new panel could also strengthen Google’s “Actua” display branding, offering users a more vibrant and power-efficient viewing experience.

Interestingly, reports suggest that Samsung’s own upcoming Galaxy S26 series may continue using the older M14 display panels. This could allow Google to maintain a display technology advantage for several months, potentially until the launch of a future Galaxy S27 lineup.

Beyond the display, the Pixel 11 is also expected to feature notable hardware improvements. The device is tipped to run on Google’s next-generation Tensor G6 processor, reportedly built on an advanced 2nm architecture. Additionally, a possible shift to MediaTek M90 modems could address long-standing concerns related to network performance and connectivity stability in Pixel devices.

In terms of design, early renders indicate that the Pixel 11 may retain a similar look to its predecessor, with only minor changes in dimensions. However, the combination of display innovation, improved processing power, and potential connectivity enhancements positions the upcoming Pixel 11 as a strong contender in the flagship smartphone segment, possibly gaining an early lead over its rivals.
