Apple's New Siri Prioritizes Privacy With Automatic Chat Deletion in iOS 27

Apple is reportedly preparing a major artificial intelligence upgrade for Siri with the launch of iOS 27, focusing heavily on privacy and conversational AI features. According to a report by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, the revamped Siri could arrive as a standalone app resembling ChatGPT and offer more advanced AI-driven interactions.

One of the key features expected in the new Siri is automatic chat deletion. Users may reportedly get the option to erase chats after 30 days, after one year, or keep them indefinitely. The feature is designed to give users more control over their personal data and mirrors retention settings already available in Apple’s Messages app.

The report also suggests users will be able to customize how Siri opens, including starting with a fresh blank chat or displaying previous conversations in a grid layout. Unlike some AI platforms that provide optional incognito modes, Apple is said to be integrating privacy protections directly into Siri’s core experience.

Apple is also expected to introduce a new “Suggested Genmoji” feature in iOS 27. The tool would automatically create personalized Genmoji suggestions by analyzing photos stored in a user’s library and commonly typed phrases. A dedicated keyboard toggle may allow users to disable the feature if they do not want AI-generated suggestions.

The updated Siri is expected to launch initially in beta form after facing delays of nearly two years in Apple’s broader AI roadmap. The company has not officially confirmed the features yet, but the report indicates Apple is positioning privacy as a major differentiator in the increasingly competitive AI assistant market.
