Apple Rolls Out iOS 27 Public Beta 2 For Eligible iPhone Models

Apple has released the second public beta of iOS 27 for eligible iPhone models, giving users another opportunity to test the upcoming operating system ahead of its official launch later this year. The update follows the first public beta released earlier this month and focuses primarily on improving performance, fixing bugs, and refining existing features rather than introducing major additions. The software is available to users enrolled in Apple's Public Beta Program and can be downloaded through the Software Update section in the Settings app.

One of the headline features of iOS 27 remains the redesigned Siri experience powered by Apple Intelligence. The upgraded voice assistant is designed to be more conversational, context-aware, and capable of handling multi-step requests more naturally. Siri can better understand information displayed on the screen and interact with supported apps, making everyday tasks more seamless. Apple has also expanded its Visual Intelligence capabilities, allowing users to identify, analyze, and gather information from content displayed on their iPhone screens.

In addition to the AI-focused improvements, iOS 27 introduces several quality-of-life enhancements across the system. The Photos app gains new editing tools that provide users with more flexibility when adjusting images. Safari now includes a "Notify Me" feature that alerts users when tracked webpages are updated, while the browser also supports creating custom extensions using natural-language commands. Apple has also introduced improved password management tools and an equaliser option for compatible AirPods, further expanding the operating system's functionality.

The second public beta does not include significant new features compared to the initial beta release. Instead, Apple is using the update to improve system stability and address issues reported by testers. As with all beta software, users may encounter bugs, reduced performance, or compatibility problems. Apple therefore recommends installing beta versions on secondary devices rather than primary smartphones used for everyday activities.

iOS 27 is compatible with the iPhone 11 series and newer devices, along with the second-generation iPhone SE. However, several Apple Intelligence features require more advanced hardware and will only be available on supported devices such as the iPhone 15 Pro series and newer models. This means not every device capable of running iOS 27 will receive the complete set of AI-powered capabilities.

Apple first introduced iOS 27 during its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026 in May and is expected to continue releasing beta updates over the coming weeks before the stable version becomes available later this year. The company will use feedback from developers and public beta testers to further optimise performance, improve reliability, and ensure a smoother user experience ahead of the final rollout.
