Google Fitbit Air Brings Distraction-Free Fitness Tracking To India This October

Fitbit Air India Launch Confirmed For October

Google has confirmed that its new Fitbit Air fitness tracker will launch in India in October 2026, expanding the company's wearable portfolio in the country. The announcement comes after Google introduced its latest hardware lineup, giving Indian consumers another option for continuous health and fitness tracking. Unlike conventional fitness bands and smartwatches, Fitbit Air is designed without a display and relies on the Google Health app to present health and activity data. Google describes it as its smallest and lightest continuous heart-rate tracker.

Google first unveiled Fitbit Air in May 2026, initially announcing it for the US market at a starting price of $99.99. The screenless wearable is designed to provide continuous monitoring without the distractions of a conventional smartwatch display. Users can access their recorded metrics through the Google Health app, which combines Fitbit data with other health and wellness information. Google has positioned the device as a discreet tracker that can be worn throughout the day and night, including during sleep.

In terms of specifications and health features, Fitbit Air can continuously track heart rate and monitor heart rhythm, with support for atrial fibrillation alerts in eligible markets. It also tracks blood oxygen saturation (SpO2), resting heart rate, heart-rate variability, sleep stages and sleep duration. The tracker additionally supports automatic activity detection, allowing it to recognise common activities and provide workout summaries through the accompanying app. Some advanced guidance features are tied to Google Health Premium.

Battery life is another major feature of Fitbit Air. Google says the tracker can last for up to seven days on a charge, although actual endurance depends on usage, enabled features and other conditions. The device also supports fast charging, with Google stating that five minutes of charging can provide up to a day of battery life. Its compact, lightweight and screenless design is intended to make continuous wear more comfortable, particularly for users who want to monitor sleep without wearing a larger smartwatch.

Fitbit Air works with most phones running Android 11 or newer and Apple devices running iOS 16.4 or later, subject to Google's compatibility requirements. The device is designed around the Google Health app, which replaced the Fitbit app as Google's broader health and wellness platform. The app brings together information from compatible wearable devices and other supported health-data sources, while Google Health Coach uses AI to provide personalised wellness guidance.

The India launch also puts the spotlight on pricing. The US starting price of $99.99 translates to roughly ₹9,500 at a simple currency conversion, but that does not indicate the final Indian retail price. The tracker has reportedly appeared on Amazon India in multiple colours, including Black, Blue and Pink, at prices substantially higher than the US starting price. Those listings, however, should not be treated as Google's confirmed India pricing until the company officially announces the local price and sales details.

Fitbit Air's key distinction is therefore its screenless approach: instead of displaying notifications, steps or workout statistics on the wrist, it quietly collects data and leaves the detailed analysis to the smartphone app. With up to seven days of battery life, automatic activity tracking, continuous heart-rate monitoring and sleep tracking, the device is aimed at users who prioritise passive health monitoring over smartwatch functionality. Google is expected to reveal the final India price, availability and purchase channels closer to the October 2026 launch.
