Xiaomi Power Bank 20000 165W Review: Can One Charger Replace Them All?

A look at Xiaomi’s high-capacity, high-speed portable charger.

Xiaomi’s Power Bank 20000 165W is designed for users who need more than a backup battery for their smartphone. With a 20,000mAh capacity and up to 165W of combined output, the power bank can handle laptops, tablets, phones and smaller accessories. Its built-in USB-C cable and colour display also make it more practical for people carrying several devices while travelling or working away from a power outlet.

Priced at Rs. 5,499, the power bank offers 120W through its integrated USB-C cable and another 45W through a second USB-C port. A USB-A connection is also included for older cables and accessories, while the device supports charging standards including USB-PD 3.0 with PPS and Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.5. The combination gives it considerably more flexibility than conventional 10,000mAh or 20,000mAh power banks.

The design reflects the large battery and high-power hardware inside. Weighing 486 grams and measuring 15.78cm in height, it is better suited to a backpack or handbag than a pocket. Xiaomi has used a tall, relatively narrow body to make the device easier to handle, while the braided USB-C cable can also function as a carrying loop. The front-mounted colour display provides information about remaining power, charging and discharging status, and estimated time, making it more useful than basic battery indicator lights.

Its charging capabilities are the main reason to consider the power bank. Users can connect a laptop through the integrated cable while simultaneously charging another device through the second USB-C port. The USB-A port can supply up to 22.5W for compatible accessories. Actual charging speeds, however, depend on the connected device and its supported charging protocols. Xiaomi also claims support for up to 90W input, allowing the power bank itself to recharge considerably faster when paired with a compatible charger.

The 20,000mAh rating should not be interpreted as the exact amount of usable energy delivered to connected devices. Xiaomi lists a rated capacity of 11,000mAh at 5V/7A and rated energy of 70.65Wh, reflecting the conversion losses that occur when power is transferred from the internal battery. The power bank also does not include a wall adapter, so users seeking its maximum recharge speed will need a compatible high-power charger separately.

For users who regularly carry several power-hungry devices, the Xiaomi Power Bank 20000 165W offers a useful combination of capacity, charging speed and convenience. Its weight is the biggest compromise, making it less appealing for someone who only needs occasional smartphone top-ups. At Rs. 5,499, its value comes primarily from the ability to serve as a portable charging hub for laptops, phones, tablets and accessories rather than simply providing extra battery capacity.
