Xiaomi 17 Max Launches With 8,000mAh Battery, 200MP Leica-Tuned Camera System

Xiaomi 17 Max launches with 8,000mAh battery and 200MP Leica camera setup.

Xiaomi has officially launched the Xiaomi 17 Max in China, expanding its flagship Xiaomi 17 lineup with a new top-tier model that introduces a larger battery, upgraded imaging hardware, and Leica-tuned camera optimisation, positioning it as the most powerful variant in the series so far.

The device was unveiled at Xiaomi’s May 2026 product event, which also featured other ecosystem launches including a new electric vehicle and wearable products. The Xiaomi 17 Max stands out primarily for its hardware focus on endurance and photography, combining a large-capacity battery with a high-resolution camera system aimed at premium smartphone users.

At the core of its specifications is an 8,000mAh battery, making it the largest in the Xiaomi 17 lineup. The company says this upgrade is designed to deliver extended usage times for demanding workloads such as gaming, content creation, and long-duration multimedia consumption, reducing the need for frequent charging compared to standard flagship devices.

On the imaging front, the smartphone features a Leica-tuned triple rear camera setup, led by a 200-megapixel primary sensor. This system is designed to enhance colour accuracy, dynamic range, and low-light performance, continuing Xiaomi’s collaboration with Leica to position its flagship phones in the high-end mobile photography segment.

The device is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 8-series chipset, the same platform used across other models in the Xiaomi 17 lineup, ensuring flagship-level performance for multitasking and graphics-intensive applications. It is paired with up to 16GB RAM and up to 512GB storage, targeting power users and professional-grade mobile workflows.

In terms of pricing, the Xiaomi 17 Max starts at CNY 4,799 (approximately ₹68,000) for the base 12GB + 256GB variant, with higher configurations going up to CNY 5,799 (approximately ₹82,000). The phone is available in multiple colour options and is currently open for pre-orders in China, with official sales scheduled to begin on May 25 through Xiaomi’s online store.
