Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 Launched With Snapdragon Chipset, BioActive Sensor

Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 launched with Snapdragon chipset and sleep apnea tracking.

Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 as its new flagship smartwatch during the Galaxy Unpacked July 2026 event. The wearable succeeds the original Galaxy Watch Ultra, introduced in 2024, and arrives alongside several new products, including the Galaxy Watch 9, Galaxy Glasses, Galaxy Z Fold 8 series, and Galaxy Z Flip 8. The latest smartwatch introduces a notable hardware change by adopting Qualcomm's Snapdragon chipset, replacing Samsung's Exynos processors used in previous generations.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 features a 47mm chassis with a squircle-shaped design and a 1.52-inch Super AMOLED display offering a resolution of 498 × 498 pixels, peak brightness of 5,000 nits, Always-On Display support, and Sapphire Crystal protection. Running One UI 9 Watch based on Wear OS 7, the smartwatch is compatible with devices running Android 13 or later. It is powered by Qualcomm's penta-core Snapdragon Wear Elite chipset, paired with 2GB RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. The smartwatch is also equipped with an 800mAh battery that supports WPC-based wireless charging.

Samsung has expanded the wearable's health and fitness capabilities through its BioActive Sensor, which enables continuous monitoring of biometric data and provides proactive health insights. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 also introduces a Sleep Apnea feature that analyses breathing disruptions during sleep. Other onboard sensors include a Bio-signal sensor, Electrical Heart Sensor, temperature sensor, accelerometer, barometer, gyroscope, geomagnetic sensor, light sensor, and GPS. The smartwatch supports heart-rate monitoring, blood oxygen (SpO₂) tracking, sleep tracking, and alerts users to potentially harmful noise levels.
