OpenAI’s ChatGPT has introduced new interactive visual learning features designed to help students and learners better understand over 70 core math and science topics. Announced on Tuesday, the update aims to make complex concepts more accessible by providing dynamic visual explanations that demonstrate how formulas, variables, and relationships change in real time.
The company highlighted that many learners find math and science abstract and difficult to grasp. Citing a recent Gallup survey, OpenAI noted that over half of U.S. adults struggle with math, and many parents feel unprepared to assist their children in learning it. “Today, we’re making learning these concepts in ChatGPT even more interactive with new dynamic visual explanations,” the blog post stated.
Initially, the feature will cover topics including the Pythagoras theorem, the Ideal Gas Law, and the Mirror Equation, among others. Users can now interact with visual modules that allow them to adjust variables, change formulas, and instantly see how these changes impact graphs and results, creating a hands-on learning experience.

OpenAI emphasized that visual, interaction-based learning can lead to stronger conceptual understanding than traditional instruction. Early testing of the feature reportedly received positive feedback from students, parents, and educators. High school and college students said the visuals helped them see how variables connect, while parents appreciated a more dynamic way to guide their children through problems. Educators noted that such tools could help students truly understand concepts rather than just memorize formulas.
The rollout is global and applies to all ChatGPT plans. With over 140 million weekly users, OpenAI is expanding its educational capabilities amid rising competition from AI rivals such as Google and Anthropic. The company said the update represents a significant step toward making ChatGPT more interactive, useful, and effective as a learning tool.
This development reflects a broader trend in AI-driven education, where interactive and visual tools are increasingly being used to make abstract academic concepts tangible, helping learners of all ages engage more deeply with science and math topics.
