Neha Singh Faces Heat Over Robodog Claim, Signals Job Hunt on LinkedIn
Galgotias professor Neha Singh 'open to work' after robodog backlash.
Neha Singh, an assistant professor of communications at Galgotias University, has emerged as the central figure in a widely-shared controversy sparked during the India AI Impact Summit 2026 after she introduced a robotic dog at the event in a way that drew intense public scrutiny and debate.
The incident occurred at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi when Singh appeared on camera presenting a robotic dog — labelled “Orion” at the university’s pavilion — and stated it was “developed by the Centre of Excellence at Galgotias University.” Soon after the clip circulated online, users quickly identified the device as a commercially available Unitree Go2 robot manufactured by a Chinese company, prompting criticism that she had misrepresented the machine’s origins.
Galgotias University later issued a public apology, saying the professor was “ill-informed” about the robot’s technical background and had spoken without proper authorisation. The institution described Singh’s enthusiasm on camera as the cause of what it called “factually incorrect information,” and clarified that there was never an official claim of in-house development. Summit organisers asked the university to vacate its exhibit space amid broader concerns about accurate representation at the high-profile AI event.

In response to mounting backlash, Singh publicly characterised the controversy as stemming from a communication gap, stating that her words were “misinterpreted” and that she had not intended to imply that the university had built the robot itself. She expressed accountability for possible lack of clarity during the fast-paced presentation, emphasising that the device was intended as a learning tool for students rather than a proprietary innovation.
The episode has generated a broader debate on academic accountability and media representation at technology gatherings, with social media users and commentators dissecting both Singh’s role and the university’s handling of the situation. Criticism has ranged from concerns about how exhibits are vetted to questions about communications strategy at prestigious forums.
Amid the fallout, Singh’s LinkedIn profile was updated to show “Open to Work,” a move that drew additional attention online as observers speculated on the impact of the episode on her professional prospects. According to her online biography, she joined Galgotias University in November 2023, previously served as an assistant professor at another institution and also worked as a verbal-ability mentor, with a background in commerce and business studies.
