Moto Buds 2 Launched at Rs 2,999 With Bass-Heavy Sound Profile

Moto Buds 2 launched with bass-heavy sound, ANC at Rs 2,999.

Motorola’s latest budget true wireless stereo earbuds, the Moto Buds 2, have arrived in India with a price tag of Rs. 2,999 and a focus on powerful bass, active noise cancellation and long battery life. The successor to the company’s 2024 model introduces a redesigned charging case, wider audio codec support and several improvements aimed at buyers seeking an affordable wireless listening experience.

The Moto Buds 2 feature a compact pebble-shaped charging case with a smoked translucent lid and a lightweight 42-gram design. The earbuds are comfortable for long listening sessions and come with multiple silicone ear tips for a secure fit. However, the glossy plastic used on much of the charging case feels less premium and can make the case slippery on smooth surfaces.

The charging case includes a USB Type-C port, pairing button and LED indicator at the bottom. While the hinge operates smoothly and the case can be opened with one hand, the placement of the pairing button and indicator can be inconvenient. The earbuds carry an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance, while the charging case has an IPX2 rating.

For audio, the Moto Buds 2 use 11mm dynamic drivers and support AAC, SBC, LDAC and LHDC 5.0 codecs. Their default sound profile is heavily focused on bass, making them more suitable for listeners who enjoy powerful low-end audio. Sound levels can be adjusted through the Moto Buds companion app, allowing users to create a more balanced listening experience, although the app is not available for iOS devices.

The earbuds also perform well in instrument separation, allowing different elements of orchestral and other detailed music to remain distinguishable. At around 50 per cent volume with medium bass settings, the sound becomes more balanced and treble is clearer. However, high-pitched sounds can become sharp at higher levels, while the strong bass may feel excessive for listeners who prefer a neutral audio profile.

Other key features include Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity, a range of up to 10 metres, gesture controls, transparency mode and dynamic active noise cancellation of up to 55dB. Overall, the Moto Buds 2 offer strong bass, comfortable earbuds and useful features for their Rs. 2,999 price, but the budget build quality and aggressive low-end sound mean they are likely to appeal most to bass-focused listeners.
