Google Veo 3 Now Offers 1080p AI Videos and Cheaper API for Developers

Google upgrades Veo 3 with 1080p video, vertical format, and cheaper API access.

Google announced significant enhancements to its Veo 3 and Veo 3 Fast video generation models, now fully integrated into the Gemini API for production-scale use. These upgrades include support for 1080p high-definition video output, a new 9:16 vertical video format tailored for mobile and social media platforms, and substantially reduced API pricing. These advancements aim to make AI-powered video creation more accessible and versatile for developers building innovative applications.

The updated Veo 3 and Veo 3 Fast models now allow developers to generate videos at 1080p resolution by setting a new “resolution” parameter, a significant leap from the previous 720p limit. Additionally, the introduction of the 9:16 aspect ratio, enabled through the “aspectRatio” parameter, caters to the growing demand for vertical content on platforms like Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and TikTok.

While these features are currently exclusive to developers via the Gemini API, Google has indicated that consumer access through the Gemini website and app may follow at a later date.

In a move to enhance affordability, Google has slashed API pricing for both models. Veo 3 now costs $0.40 per second of video generation, down from $0.75, while Veo 3 Fast is priced at $0.15 per second, reduced from $0.40.

Available to Google AI Pro subscribers (Rs. 1,950/month) for Veo 3 Fast and Google AI Ultra subscribers (Rs. 24,500/month) for Veo 3, these updates empower developers to create high-quality, mobile-optimized videos at a lower cost, driving innovation in advertising, social media, and content creation.
