Galaxy Able Listed In Samsung Buds App With SM-U Series Number Unlike any Existing Earbud

Samsung's Galaxy Able is spotted in the Buds app with an unusual SM-U model number, hinting at an accessibility device.

Samsung may be working on a new addition to its audio lineup, as a device named “Galaxy Able” has reportedly been spotted in development. The listing, discovered within the Galaxy Buds app, has sparked curiosity due to its unusual naming and model number pattern.

The device appears alongside existing products like the Samsung Galaxy Buds 4 and Samsung Galaxy Buds 4 Pro but stands out because it is labelled simply as “Galaxy Able” rather than following the typical “Buds” branding. This difference has led to speculation that it may not be a standard pair of true wireless earbuds.

According to reports, the model number associated with Galaxy Able belongs to an unfamiliar “SM-U” series, unlike Samsung’s usual “SM-R” series used for earbuds. This deviation from established naming conventions suggests that the device could belong to a completely new category or represent an experimental product.

The “Able” branding itself hints at a possible focus on accessibility. Industry observers believe the device could function similarly to an over-the-counter hearing aid, potentially targeting users with hearing assistance needs rather than just audio playback. If true, this would mark a significant expansion of Samsung’s wearable ecosystem into health-focused audio solutions.

The report also notes that Samsung does not typically use the SM-U series for consumer audio products, making the listing even more unusual. While some Samsung smartphones include a “U” suffix for US variants, it has not previously been used as a separate model series for earbuds or related devices.

However, since the information comes from an APK teardown, the details remain speculative. The name “Galaxy Able” could still be a codename, and the final product—if it launches—may differ in branding, features, or category. Until an official announcement is made, the development should be viewed as an early indication rather than a confirmed release.
