AMD Introduces Agent Computers Powered By Ryzen AI Max+ For Local AI Processing

American semiconductor giant Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has introduced a new category of personal computers called "Agent Computers," designed to run artificial intelligence agents locally and continuously. Unlike conventional PCs that rely on cloud-based AI services, these systems allow AI models to operate full-time on powerful devices, performing tasks autonomously in homes or offices. AMD’s announcement positions Agent Computers as a step toward more integrated AI-assisted workflows for creators, developers, and professionals.

Agent Computers are built to remain always on and available, operating quietly in the background without requiring a traditional monitor. AMD emphasizes that users interact with the system through delegation rather than direct operation, sending instructions via messaging platforms rather than conventional input methods. This approach allows AI agents to handle tasks continuously, even when users are offline, sleeping, or otherwise occupied, effectively transforming the PC into a persistent assistant rather than a conventional computing device.

Developers have already experimented with running AI agents locally through projects such as OpenClaw, but AMD seeks to formalize and expand this approach for mainstream users. Agent Computers are designed to manage tasks autonomously while offering seamless interfaces through common communication platforms like WhatsApp, Slack, and Messages. The systems are intended to simplify repetitive processes, streamline workflows, and support creators in handling background operations more efficiently.

The architecture allows the machines to operate continuously, process multiple tasks simultaneously, and maintain responsiveness through integrated AI cores, giving developers and professionals reliable performance for AI-assisted computing tasks.

Industry analysts note that AMD’s push toward Agent Computers reflects a growing trend of local AI processing, reducing reliance on cloud infrastructure and improving data privacy and latency.
