India captain Suryakumar Yadav surged five places to seventh in the ICC men’s T20I rankings on Wednesday, following a prolific run in the ongoing five-match home series against New Zealand, which India currently lead 3-0. Yadav’s impressive scores of 32, 82 not out, and 57 not out have cemented his place among the world’s elite T20 batters.
India continues to dominate the rankings, with Abhishek Sharma holding the top spot and Tilak Varma in third position, just ten days ahead of the T20 World Cup. Other Indian batters making gains include Ishan Kishan, who re-entered the rankings at 64th after his explosive 76 off 32 balls in Raipur, while Shivam Dubey and Rinku Singh climbed nine and 13 places respectively.
Across international cricket, Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmanullah have risen in the rankings following their 2-1 series win over the West Indies in Dubai. Ibrahim moved up two spots to 13th, while Rahmanullah climbed three positions to 15th. Darwish Rasooli, Player of the Series, surged 29 slots to 87th after scoring 156 runs.

In bowling rankings, Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb ur Rahman gained five places to reach ninth after a four-wicket haul, while India’s Jasprit Bumrah and Ravi Bishnoi climbed to 13th and 19th respectively. All-rounder Hardik Pandya also made significant gains, moving 18 places to 59th in bowling and climbing to third among global all-rounders.
Other notable performers include South Africa’s Aiden Markram, West Indies’ Brandon King, and New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips, all making significant progress in T20I rankings. In ODIs, England’s Harry Brook and Joe Root gained after a 2-1 series win in Sri Lanka, while bowlers Adil Rashid and Sri Lanka’s Dunith Wellalage climbed six and 14 places respectively, reflecting a period of global ranking shifts ahead of upcoming ICC tournaments.
