Shree Charani Retains No. 1 Spot In ICC Women’s T20I Bowling Rankings

Shree Charani retains No. 1 spot in ICC Women’s T20I bowling rankings.

India left-arm spinner Shree Charani has retained her position as the world’s No.1 bowler in the ICC Women’s T20I Rankings, according to the latest update released on Tuesday. The rankings reflect performances from the ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, where several players have made notable gains, particularly from England and South Africa.

Charani, who finished India’s campaign with an impressive 14 wickets, remains at the top despite India’s early exit from the tournament. Her consistent wicket-taking ability has helped her maintain the No.1 spot, although competition has tightened with several bowlers closing in as the knockout stages progress.

England’s Sophie Ecclestone made a significant move up the rankings, rising to third place after taking eight wickets so far in the tournament. Her teammate Lauren Bell also climbed three spots to reach fourth position, reflecting England’s strong bowling performances. South Africa’s Nonkululeko Mlaba moved up to fifth, while Pakistan’s Nashra Sandhu advanced to ninth, highlighting competitive shifts among leading spin bowlers.

Further down the list, South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp jumped seven places to 14th, while Scotland captain Kathryn Bryce recorded one of the biggest gains, climbing 17 spots to 26th. New Zealand pacer Bree Illing also improved her standing, rising to 31st after consistent performances.

In the batting rankings, Australia’s Georgia Voll retained the No.1 position despite a quiet outing in the final group-stage match against India. South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt moved up to joint third, while Sri Lanka skipper Chamari Athapaththu rose to seventh after a century against Ireland. England’s Danni Wyatt-Hodge, the tournament’s leading run-scorer, climbed to 11th, with several other batters also making upward moves.

In the all-rounders’ rankings, West Indies captain Hayley Matthews continues to hold the top spot, ahead of New Zealand’s Melie Kerr. Ireland’s Orla Prendergast was among the biggest gainers, moving to joint third, while South Africa’s Kapp and Scotland’s Bryce also improved their positions, reflecting a dynamic shift in women’s T20 cricket rankings amid the ongoing World Cup.
