Rajat Patidar Calls Tim David One of the Best Finishers He Has Ever Seen

Tim David's stunning 70 off 25 balls powered RCB past CSK comprehensively.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Rajat Patidar heaped praise on teammate Tim David following their dominant victory over Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League 2026. Patidar described David as “one of the best finishers” he has seen, a remark that quickly gained traction among fans online after the latter’s explosive performance sealed the match in RCB’s favour.

Batting first, RCB posted a formidable total of 250/3, powered by aggressive contributions across the lineup. While early momentum came from Virat Kohli and Phil Salt, it was the middle and lower order that accelerated the scoring. Devdutt Padikkal anchored the innings with a half-century, before Patidar and David combined for a game-changing unbeaten partnership that left CSK struggling to contain the run flow.

Patidar played a blistering knock of 48 not out off just 19 deliveries, while David delivered a match-defining innings of 70 not out from 25 balls. Their 99-run stand came at a rapid pace and shifted the momentum decisively in RCB’s favour during the death overs. Patidar later highlighted David’s composure and consistency, noting that the Australian has repeatedly proven his ability to finish games under pressure.

In response, CSK faltered early in the chase, losing three wickets for just 30 runs. Despite a spirited half-century from Sarfaraz Khan and useful contributions from Prashant Veer and Jamie Overton, the five-time champions were unable to keep up with the steep target. The innings eventually folded for 207 in 19.4 overs, handing them their third consecutive defeat of the season.

RCB’s bowling unit also played a crucial role in the win, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar leading the attack and reaching the milestone of 200 IPL wickets. Krunal Pandya, Abhinandan Singh, and Jacob Duffy chipped in with key breakthroughs, ensuring CSK never gained sustained momentum during the chase.

The victory further extended CSK’s struggles, especially in the absence of MS Dhoni, who remains sidelined due to injury. Under the leadership of Ruturaj Gaikwad, the team has now suffered multiple setbacks early in the season. Meanwhile, RCB’s emphatic win, highlighted by David’s finishing prowess and Patidar’s leadership, has strengthened their position as strong contenders in the ongoing tournament.
