Lovlina Borgohain and others qualify for CWG and Asian Games.

Lovlina Borgohain, Sakshi Chaudhary, Jadumani Singh, and Narender Berwal secured qualification spots for the upcoming Commonwealth Games and Asian Games after emerging victorious in the final day of boxing selection trials held in Patiala on Friday. The trials witnessed intense competition as several boxers competed under revised weight categories and fought for places in India’s squad for the major international events.

Olympic bronze medalist Lovlina Borgohain once again underlined her experience and consistency by booking her place in the national contingent. Sakshi Chaudhary also attracted attention after continuing her strong run in domestic boxing, while Jadumani Singh and heavyweight boxer Narender Berwal successfully sealed qualification with strong performances in their respective categories. The trials were organized amid growing scrutiny over selection procedures and recent debates surrounding the return of the trial-based qualification system in Indian boxing.

Apart from the headline names, several other boxers also confirmed their places in the squads for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and the Asian Games in Japan. Parveen Hooda won the women’s 65kg category, while Sumit Kundu triumphed in the 70kg division. Ankush secured victory in the 80 kg class, and Kapil Pokhariya topped the 90 kg category. Officials said the trials were conducted to ensure transparency and provide equal opportunities for boxers competing for national selection after recent controversies within Indian boxing administration.
