Yogi Adityanath Endorses Uttar Pradesh Kabaddi League Season Two Opener
CM pledges support for UPKL Season 2, promoting youth talent and sports growth.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has pledged his support for the Uttar Pradesh Kabaddi League (UPKL) Season 2, set to commence on December 25, 2025, in Noida. The announcement follows a meeting last week with Sambhav Jain, founder and director of SJ Uplift Kabaddi Pvt. Ltd., the league’s organising body. Adityanath, who will attend the season opener as chief guest, praised the league’s role in promoting kabaddi and uncovering local talent, reinforcing the state’s commitment to sports development.
Jain expressed gratitude for the state government’s backing, stating, “The support of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has been instrumental in fostering a vibrant sports culture in Uttar Pradesh.” He highlighted the success of Season 1, which reached over 30 million TV viewers and garnered 300 million digital impressions, and emphasised Season 2’s focus on empowering youth and nurturing grassroots talent. The league aims to transform kabaddi into a symbol of aspiration for the state’s youth.
The meeting, attended by key UPKL figures Kunal Sharma, Rachit Sharma, and Vedika Trivedi, also covered Uttar Pradesh’s evolving sports ecosystem. Adityanath shared his vision of sports as a driver of youth engagement and community development, aligning with the state’s efforts to build world-class sports infrastructure, including stadiums in every development block.

Season 2 will feature 64 matches over 17 days, with new franchises and star players like Arjun Deshwal and Vinay Tewatiya. The league’s expansion reflects its growing popularity and its mission to provide a professional platform for Uttar Pradesh’s kabaddi talent, boosting state pride and sporting excellence.
