Yash Dayal Reportedly Cleared Of POCSO Allegations, Set To Return In T20 League
Yash Dayal reportedly cleared, set for T20 return.
Indian fast bowler Yash Dayal is set to return to competitive cricket in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh T20 League after being out of action for over a year amid ongoing legal proceedings. The 27-year-old, who last featured for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the 2025 Indian Premier League season, had been away from the game due to multiple allegations under investigation.
Dayal had been facing allegations in two separate cases, including one linked to sexual exploitation and another registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. However, according to reports, he has now been cleared of the charges, paving the way for his return to domestic and league cricket. The developments mark a significant turn in his professional career after a prolonged period away from the sport.
The Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has confirmed that it will issue a No Objection Certificate (NOC) enabling Dayal to participate in domestic and franchise-based competitions. UPCA secretary Prem Manohar Gupta stated that the clearance follows the completion of legal proceedings, allowing the cricketer to resume his playing commitments without restriction.

Officials associated with the Uttar Pradesh T20 League also confirmed that Dayal has been retained by his franchise, the Gorakhpur Lions, and is expected to feature in the upcoming season. League governing council chairman Sanjay Kapoor added that preparations for the mini-auction are underway and that the tournament may be expanded to additional venues to promote wider participation and visibility.
The first FIR against Dayal was filed in Ghaziabad under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, while a second complaint was registered in Jaipur, which was later brought under the POCSO Act. These cases had significantly impacted his availability for professional cricket over the past year, keeping him out of competitive action during ongoing investigations.
With his legal status reportedly resolved, Dayal’s return is being closely watched within domestic cricket circles. His comeback in the Uttar Pradesh T20 League is expected to mark the beginning of a fresh phase in his career, as he looks to rebuild form and re-establish himself in competitive cricket after a prolonged absence.
