Vaibhav Sooryavanshi AI Chip Debate Resurfaces After IPL 2026 Performances
AI chip jokes around Vaibhav Sooryavanshi spark debate after Kaif and Chopra react IPL 2026 performances.
A viral discussion around Rajasthan Royals’ teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has resurfaced in the ongoing IPL 2026 season, after renewed chatter on social media and television debates suggested, in a tongue-in-cheek manner, that the 15-year-old batter’s explosive hitting might be influenced by an “AI chip” in his bat. The comment, originally made jokingly by a cricket expert, has since sparked widespread reactions among fans and former players.
The debate gained traction during a broadcast segment on Star Sports, where host Jatin Sapru brought up the circulating joke while speaking with former cricketers Mohammad Kaif and Aakash Chopra. The discussion revolved around Sooryavanshi’s remarkable consistency and power-hitting ability, which has made him one of the most talked-about young players in the tournament. His performances have already triggered calls from sections of fans and analysts for faster progression towards higher-level selection.
Responding to the playful “AI chip” remark, Aakash Chopra said the idea reflects how unpredictable modern talent can appear, comparing the teenager’s rise to evolving artificial intelligence. He added that Sooryavanshi’s potential is still unfolding and suggested that his early dominance at such a young age makes him an exceptional prospect, even drawing a parallel to players like Sachin Tendulkar, who also began their careers in their teens.

Chopra further remarked that while the AI reference was clearly humorous, the analogy reflects how extraordinary performances can sometimes feel ahead of their time. He described Sooryavanshi as a “new-age batting model,” emphasising that his growth trajectory is still unknown but highly promising given his current form in the tournament.
Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif, however, pushed back against the playful speculation, stressing that no technology can replace natural batting ability. He argued that even if such an “AI chip” existed, it would not guarantee success, including scoring centuries. Kaif highlighted that Sooryavanshi’s success is rooted in years of practice and skill development, noting that the teenager has been training since childhood and deserves recognition for his hard work and discipline.
The light-hearted yet intense discussion has added another layer of attention to Sooryavanshi’s rapid rise in IPL 2026, where his aggressive batting style continues to attract both admiration and debate across the cricketing world.
