Usain Bolt to Visit India for Exhibition Football Game on October 1

Sprint legend Bolt to play for Bengaluru FC and Mumbai City FC in showcase match.

Sprint icon Usain Bolt, renowned for his eight Olympic gold medals, will swap his running spikes for football boots in a unique exhibition match in Mumbai on October 1. Organized by PUMA, the event will see the Jamaican legend take the field alongside professional footballers, Bollywood stars, and other prominent figures, celebrating India’s growing passion for football.

Bolt will play one half for Bengaluru FC and the other for Mumbai City FC, uniting fans of both Indian Super League teams in a two-day PUMA celebration starting September 30. The ticketed event aims to blend sport, entertainment, and culture, showcasing Bolt’s enduring charisma and love for football. “At PUMA, we believe sport has the power to inspire and unite communities,” said Karthik Balagopalan, Managing Director of PUMA India. “Football is one of the most popular sports among India’s youth, and bringing Usain Bolt to play here is our way of celebrating that momentum.”

The 39-year-old retired sprinter has long harbored a passion for football, playing the sport in his youth and pursuing it post-athletics through training and trial matches, even scoring in exhibitions. Though a professional football career never materialized, his Mumbai appearance underscores his commitment to the game and its fans.
