Teenager Dies After Fountain Collapses During Spain's World Cup Celebrations

According to regional emergency services, the upper section of the Arbol Gordo fountain gave way and fell onto the crowd, striking several people. The teenager died as a result of the incident, while two others sustained injuries and received medical attention. Authorities have not yet disclosed the identities or conditions of the injured victims, and an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the collapse.

In a statement, Ciudad Rodrigo Town Hall expressed condolences to the victim's family and described the incident as a tragedy for the entire community. The local administration said what was meant to be a joyous celebration of Spain's World Cup victory had instead become a moment of profound grief for the town, extending its support to the family and friends of the deceased.

The fatal accident overshadowed nationwide celebrations after Spain secured its second FIFA World Cup title, 16 years after winning its first championship in 2010.
