Rishabh Pant Anchors LSG, Tells Critics: ‘Let My Bat Do the Talking’

Rishabh Pant scored 68* to guide LSG past SRH in IPL 2026, emphasizing preparation and team support over criticism.

Rishabh Pant once again demonstrated why he is considered one of the most explosive T20 batsmen, guiding the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to a tense five-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their IPL 2026 clash on Sunday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Pant’s unbeaten 68 off 50 balls, featuring nine boundaries, anchored LSG’s chase of 157, finishing the game with just one ball to spare.

Amid ongoing criticism of his T20 approach, Pant emphasized that internal recognition within the dressing room outweighs external opinions. “I know I’m preparing well. I want to let my bat do the talking. My colleagues and management see how hard I work, that’s what matters. I just don’t want to talk about that,” he said during the post-match presentation. His statement reflects a philosophy of letting performance speak louder than words, a mindset that has helped him handle pressure situations in the IPL.

Pant highlighted the role of the bowling unit in setting the stage for the victory. “With bowlers, you’ve got to appreciate them because they set you up for the night, especially when you bowl first,” he said, praising contributors such as Mohammed Shami, Avesh Khan, Digvesh Rathi, and Manimaran Siddharth for executing their roles effectively under pressure. Their disciplined efforts restricted SRH to a manageable total, allowing Pant and the LSG batsmen to chase confidently.

Reflecting on his own form, Pant stressed that consistent preparation remains central to his approach. “When it ends well, all is well. My focus personally is preparing really well and giving my full commitment,” he said, emphasizing that finishing matches in high-pressure situations builds team confidence. He also pointed out the importance of balanced leadership and team discussions, combining constructive criticism with appreciation.

Pant underlined that clarity in execution matters more than individual heroics. “The only conversation is looking to execute the plan rather than feeling that I can do all this. Trust your preparation and just take on the game,” he explained. He added that continuous learning is key for the team as they aim to improve with each outing. “We are looking to learn as a team and get better every single match,” Pant concluded, signaling LSG’s commitment to steady growth in the tournament.

With this win, LSG not only secured valuable points but also reaffirmed their reliance on Pant’s ability to thrive under pressure. His performance, leadership approach, and focus on teamwork underscore why he remains a central figure in the team’s ambitions for IPL 2026.
