Ravinder Singh Strikes Gold At ISSF World Championships, Leads India To Team Silver
Army shooter Ravinder Singh bags India’s first gold at ISSF World Championships in 50m pistol event.
Veteran Indian shooter and Army marksman Ravinder Singh delivered a stellar performance on Saturday, clinching the individual gold medal in the 50m pistol event on the opening day of the ISSF World Championships (Pistol/Rifle). The 29-year-old from Bishnah, Jammu & Kashmir, also played a key role in helping India secure a team silver in the same category, marking one of the nation’s strongest starts to the event.
Ravinder scored a remarkable 569 points in the non-Olympic event, finishing ahead of South Korea’s Kim Cheongyong and Individual Neutral Athlete Anton Aristarkhov, who both shot 556 to claim silver and bronze respectively. This triumph stands as Ravinder’s biggest career achievement to date, following his bronze medal finish at the 2023 World Championships in Baku.
Competing against 46 of the world’s top shooters, Ravinder began with a modest 93 in the first round but quickly regained composure to post 98, 94, 95, 93, and 96 in his subsequent rounds. His consistency and control under pressure powered him to the top of the leaderboard, solidifying his reputation as one of India’s most dependable pistol shooters.

The Indian team, featuring Ravinder alongside Kamaljeet (540) and Yogesh Kumar (537), earned a combined total of 1646 points to clinch silver in the team event. South Korea narrowly edged India with a total of 1648 to take gold, while Ukraine secured bronze with 1644.
Ravinder, who also won a silver at the National Games earlier this year in the 10m air pistol event, has been part of India’s shooting circuit since 2019. His gold in the Worlds marks a new high in his career and brings renewed hope to India’s pistol shooting contingent ahead of upcoming international competitions.
