Pramod Bhagat defeats Muhammad Al Imran to win men's SL3 gold in Manama.

Indian Para-badminton Star Pramod Bhagat clinched the men's singles SL3 gold medal at the BWF Para-Badminton World Championships, securing his record sixth world title in the category. The 37-year-old defeated Indonesia's Muhammad Al Imran in a commanding straight-games final on Saturday, prevailing 21-12, 21-18 to claim his fourth consecutive singles gold at the global event.

The championship, held from February 8 to 14 at Isa Sports City in Manama, marked a historic milestone for Bhagat, who has now won SL3 singles titles in 2009, 2015, 2019, 2022, 2024, and 2026. Afflicted by polio at age five, Bhagat has long dominated the SL3 classification, which is for players with lower limb impairments. His latest triumph underscores his sustained excellence and longevity in para badminton, where he previously claimed gold at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics and has been a consistent force on the international circuit.

In the final, Bhagat displayed superior control and tactical precision against Al Imran, racing to a comfortable lead in the first game before fending off a brief challenge in the second. The victory not only added another feather to his cap but also highlighted India's growing strength in para badminton, with multiple athletes competing strongly across categories at the tournament.

Indian sports fans and officials celebrated the win, with tributes pouring in for the Odisha native's remarkable career. As the tournament concludes, attention turns to how this momentum can propel further successes for India's para badminton contingent on the global stage.
