Neymar Signals Return For Brazil As Scotland Clash Looms Critical

Neymar hints at comeback for Brazil's critical Scotland World Cup match.

Brazil have received a significant boost ahead of their crucial FIFA World Cup Group C match against Scotland, with star forward Neymar indicating that he is close to returning from injury. The 34-year-old shared photographs from a training session on social media along with a message expressing his happiness, fueling speculation that his long-awaited comeback could occur in the coming days. Neymar has missed Brazil's first two matches of the tournament because of a calf injury.

The veteran attacker was unavailable as Brazil began their World Cup campaign with a 1-1 draw against Morocco before securing a convincing 3-0 victory over Haiti. The win moved the five-time world champions to the top of Group C and placed them in a strong position to advance to the knockout stages. Despite being absent from matchday squads, Neymar has continued his rehabilitation programme while remaining closely involved with the team.

While the rest of the squad travelled to Philadelphia for the match against Haiti, Neymar stayed at Brazil's training base in New Jersey to focus on recovery. Over the weekend, he resumed on-field activities and participated in both physical exercises and ball-work sessions. The development marked an important step forward in his rehabilitation and suggested that he could soon be available for selection.

Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti recently expressed optimism regarding Neymar's condition. Following the victory over Haiti, Ancelotti stated that the forward was progressing well and would soon rejoin full team training. The coach indicated that Neymar could be available for the upcoming fixture against Scotland if his recovery continues without setbacks.

A return against Scotland would carry special significance for Neymar, as it would mark his first appearance for Brazil since October 2023. The forward suffered a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury during a World Cup qualifying match against Uruguay, an injury that sidelined him for an extended period and limited his role during Brazil's qualification campaign. His recovery has been closely monitored by supporters and football observers worldwide.

The Scotland encounter could also add another chapter to Neymar's remarkable international career. The tournament represents his fourth FIFA World Cup appearance after competing in the 2014, 2018 and 2022 editions. Despite injury interruptions, Neymar remained influential during qualification, recording two goals and three assists in four appearances. With Brazil targeting a deep run in the competition, his potential return could provide a major lift as the knockout rounds approach.
