Mountaineer Defies Odds With Daring Paragliding Descent From Lenin Peak

German mountaineer Jost Kobusch has drawn widespread attention online after completing a daring paragliding descent from Kyrgyzstan’s Lenin Peak, one of the region’s highest mountains. Kobusch reportedly reached a point just 15 metres below the summit before launching his paraglider rather than returning on foot. A video of the descent has circulated widely on social media, highlighting the risks involved in combining high-altitude mountaineering with paragliding.

Kobusch’s achievement came after years of attempts to conquer the mountain. Lenin Peak, which stands at around 7,134 metres according to the report, has long been a personal goal for the German climber. He had previously attempted the ascent in 2013 but was unsuccessful. More than a decade later, Kobusch managed to fulfil his ambition and added a highly unusual descent to the achievement.

In an Instagram post titled “How does it feel to fly from a 7000er?”, Kobusch described the experience and reflected on finally accomplishing a dream he had pursued for years. The descent required careful preparation, concentration and determination, with the mountaineer making the decision to take to the air at extreme altitude. His footage has since attracted attention from viewers fascinated by the combination of mountaineering and aerial adventure.
