Kimi Antonelli Dominates Miami Grand Prix for Third Consecutive F1 Victory

Kimi Antonelli wins Miami Grand Prix, securing third consecutive Formula 1 victory.

Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli continued his sensational Formula One season with a commanding victory at the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday, securing his third consecutive win and strengthening his position at the top of the 2026 World Championship standings. The 19-year-old Italian held off a determined challenge from McLaren’s Lando Norris in a high-intensity race filled with early chaos and strategic battles.

Antonelli started the race from pole position but briefly lost the lead to Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc in the opening phase. The race quickly descended into disorder after a dramatic start that saw Max Verstappen spin 360 degrees on track, while Pierre Gasly’s Alpine suffered a frightening flip while overtaking Liam Lawson, triggering early safety car intervention.

Once racing resumed, strategy became the defining factor. Several frontrunners, including Antonelli and Norris, pitted early as teams reacted to changing conditions and the safety car period. Mercedes executed their strategy effectively, allowing Antonelli to regain track position and re-establish control at the front of the field.

Despite constant pressure from Norris, who pushed aggressively throughout the second half of the race, Antonelli demonstrated remarkable maturity for his age. He maintained consistent pace, managed tyre degradation efficiently, and defended cleanly in key sectors to keep the McLaren driver behind him until the chequered flag.

Behind the leading duo, Oscar Piastri secured third place for McLaren, rounding off a strong double-podium finish for the team. George Russell finished fourth for Mercedes after a steady drive, while Max Verstappen recovered to fifth despite his early spin. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc completed the top six after briefly leading the race in the opening laps. The Miami Grand Prix was also notable for its adjusted start time, moved forward by three hours due to the threat of severe weather conditions. Although rainstorms were expected, the race ultimately unfolded under hot, humid, and overcast skies, allowing for a full-distance contest without major weather interruptions.

This race marked the return of Formula One after a five-week break caused by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Several teams arrived with significant upgrade packages, adding an extra layer of competitiveness to an already tightly contested season.Antonelli’s victory not only extends his championship lead but also reinforces his emergence as one of the most promising talents in modern Formula One, with momentum firmly on his side as the season intensifies.
