Jaiswal Falls Short of Century in Second Test
India Hit 182/3 at Tea in Second Test
Yashasvi Jaiswal fell 13 runs short of his sixth Test hundred, scoring a brisk 87 off 107 balls, as India reached a steady 182 for 3 at tea on the opening day of the second Test against England at Edgbaston on Wednesday. Jaiswal, blending caution with aggression, struck 13 boundaries before edging a short, wide ball from England captain Ben Stokes to wicketkeeper Jamie Smith.
Jaiswal’s knock featured an 80-run stand with Karun Nair (31 off 50) for the second wicket and a 66-run partnership with captain Shubman Gill, who remained unbeaten on 42 off 109 balls. At the break, Gill was joined by Rishabh Pant, not out on 14 off 28 balls, as India maintained a solid foundation.
England’s bowlers shared the spoils, with Chris Woakes (1/35), Brydon Carse (1/26), and Stokes (1/33) each claiming a wicket.
