Ishan Kishan Bags Impact Player Award After Blazing Knock vs Namibia

Ishan Kishan wins Impact Player award in India's dressing room for his explosive 61 off 24 balls against Namibia.

India’s opener Ishan Kishan was awarded the Impact Player medal in the dressing room following India’s 93-run victory over Namibia at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Kishan’s blazing innings of 61 runs off just 24 balls set the tone for India’s total of 209/9, showcasing his aggressive intent and mental toughness.

The award was presented by the Indian team’s head physiotherapist, Kamlesh Jain, who praised Kishan’s belief and hard work during his two-year absence from the national squad. “He had the belief that whenever he came back, he would make an impact. Today, he capitalised brilliantly,” Jain said. Kishan received the award with a lighthearted remark, acknowledging his teammates’ support.

Namibia started their innings strongly, ending the powerplay at 57/1, but India’s bowlers turned the tide. Varun Chakravarthy’s 3/7, Axar Patel’s 2/20, and Hardik Pandya’s 2/21 dismantled the opposition, restricting them to 116 in 18.2 overs. India’s balanced performance highlighted the team’s depth in both batting and bowling.

That’s exactly the way we want to play,” Gambhir said, emphasizing the team’s focus and strategy.

With this win, India leads Group A with two victories from as many matches, closely followed by Pakistan. The team now prepares for a high-stakes clash against Pakistan in their next group-stage match in Colombo on Sunday, with momentum firmly on India’s side.
