IPL 2026 Playoffs Update: RCB Chances Diminish After GT vs SRH, CSK Probability 42.8%
GT win hurts RCB playoff hopes, lifts CSK to 42.8% chance.
Gujarat Titans moved closer to securing a place in the Indian Premier League 2026 playoffs after a dominant 82-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad on Tuesday. Led by Shubman Gill, Gujarat climbed to the top of the points table with 16 points from 12 matches, a tally generally considered sufficient to qualify for the knockout stage.
Following the result, Gujarat Titans’ playoff qualification probability surged to 94.9 per cent, according to figures released by the tournament’s official broadcasters. The defeat significantly affected Hyderabad’s chances, which dropped from 80 per cent before the match to 65.7 per cent. Royal Challengers Bengaluru also saw their qualification probability dip slightly from 80.1 per cent to 79.7 per cent, while Punjab Kings improved marginally to 62.7 per cent. Chennai Super Kings remained in contention, with their playoff chances moving from 42.7 to 42.8 per cent.
The Titans produced a complete performance after recovering from a slow batting start on a difficult two-paced surface. Sai Sudharsan anchored the innings with a composed 61 off 44 balls, while Washington Sundar contributed a fluent 50 from 33 deliveries. Their crucial 60-run partnership for the fourth wicket helped Gujarat post a competitive total of 168 for seven after struggling early against disciplined bowling from Hyderabad.

In reply, Sunrisers Hyderabad collapsed under relentless pressure from Gujarat’s pace attack and were bowled out for just 86 in 14.5 overs. Kagiso Rabada starred with the ball, taking 3 for 28 and dismantling the top order during the powerplay. Jason Holder matched the impact with figures of 3 for 20, while Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna also chipped in with important wickets.
Hyderabad’s chase never gained momentum after early dismissals of Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan. Rabada’s disciplined line and movement proved too difficult for the aggressive SRH batting lineup, while Holder exploited the extra bounce from the pitch to remove middle-order batters, including Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy.
The emphatic win extended Gujarat Titans’ winning streak to five matches and strengthened their hold on a playoff berth with only a few league-stage games remaining. For Sunrisers Hyderabad, the heavy defeat not only damaged their net run rate but also increased pressure heading into the final phase of the league season, where qualification spots remain tightly contested.
