India's athletics campaign at the 2026 Commonwealth Games gets underway on Monday, with a strong contingent aiming to add to the country's growing medal tally in Glasgow. The Athletics Federation of India has fielded a 32-member squad, comprising 22 men and 10 women, along with 11 para-athletes. Several of India's top track and field stars, including Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra, Tajinderpal Singh Toor, Murali Sreeshankar and Gulveer Singh, are expected to headline the campaign.

The athletics competitions will be held from July 27 to August 2, featuring medal events across track, field and para-athletics disciplines. India will have representation in a wide range of events, with athletes competing in sprints, middle-distance races, hurdles, jumps, throws, relays and para-athletics. The opening day includes qualification rounds in the men's 100m, long jump and 110m hurdles, along with finals in the men's high jump, hammer throw, women's 10,000m and several para-athletics events.

Much of the attention will be on Neeraj Chopra, who returns to the Commonwealth Games after winning the men's javelin throw gold medal in the 2018 edition. Fellow 2018 champion Tajinderpal Singh Toor will also be looking to reclaim the men's shot put title. Long jumper Murali Sreeshankar and distance runner Gulveer Singh are among the other leading Indian medal hopefuls expected to compete during the week-long athletics programme.

The men's javelin throw final, featuring Neeraj Chopra, is scheduled for the night of July 31 (IST), while several Indian athletes are expected to contest the shot put, long jump, triple jump and relay finals in the closing stages of the competition. The final day of athletics on August 2 will conclude the track and field programme, with relay events and middle-distance finals expected to bring the Games to an exciting finish.
