Indian Shuttlers Tanvi and Vennala Stun Asia with Bronze Medals at Junior Championships!

India’s rising badminton stars Tanvi Sharma and Vennala Kalagotla set the court ablaze, clinching bronze medals at the Badminton Asia Junior Individual Championships on Saturday. In a historic first, two Indian women’s singles players stood on the podium in the same edition, marking a golden moment for Indian badminton.

Vennala Kalagotla battled fiercely against China’s Liu Si Ya, falling 15-21, 18-21 in a thrilling 37-minute clash. Trailing 15-20 in the second game, the young Indian saved three match points, igniting hopes of a comeback, but a critical error handed Liu the victory.

Meanwhile, second-seeded Tanvi Sharma faced China’s eighth seed Yin Yi Qing, losing 13-21, 14-21 in 35 minutes. Despite a blazing 6-1 lead in the second game, Tanvi couldn’t hold off Yin’s relentless comeback, who leveled the score at 8-8 before surging to triumph.

Fresh off her runner-up finish at last month’s US Open Super 300, Tanvi’s performance underscored her growing prowess. The bronze medals cap an electrifying campaign for India, signaling a bright future for these young shuttlers on the global stage.
