India Restrict Zimbabwe to 75/5 After Posting 219 in 2nd T20I

India tightened their grip on the second T20 International against Zimbabwe with an impressive bowling display after posting a formidable total of 219/5 at the Harare Sports Club on Saturday. Chasing 220 for victory, Zimbabwe slipped to 75/5 in 10.2 overs, leaving the hosts with a daunting task of scoring 145 runs from the remaining 58 deliveries to keep the three-match series alive.

Earlier, India produced a strong batting performance led by half-centuries from Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma. The pair anchored the innings after an explosive start, helping the visitors finish with 219/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza had won the toss and elected to bowl first, but the Indian batters capitalised on the conditions to post a challenging total.

Zimbabwe's reply never gathered momentum as India's bowlers struck at regular intervals. Prince Yadav claimed two key wickets, while debutant Yash Thakur and leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi chipped in with one wicket each to reduce the hosts to 64/4 during the early stages of the chase. Shivam Dube then added to Zimbabwe's troubles by dismissing Wessly Madhevere, who was caught after attempting an aggressive shot.

Ravi Bishnoi's dismissal of Brian Myers proved particularly significant, with the leg-spinner deceiving the batter with a well-disguised googly that crashed into the stumps. Prince Yadav also removed Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza after the batter edged an attempted cut shot behind to wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan, leaving the home side under immense pressure.

At the latest update, Ryan Burl was unbeaten on 17, while Tadiwanashe Marumani remained at the crease on nine. However, with five wickets already lost and the required run rate climbing above 15 runs per over, Zimbabwe faced an increasingly difficult challenge against a disciplined Indian bowling attack.

India entered the contest with a 1-0 lead in the three-match series after registering a convincing seven-wicket victory in the opening T20I. A win in Harare would secure the series for Shreyas Iyer's side, while Zimbabwe need a dramatic turnaround in the remainder of the chase to force the contest into a deciding third match.
