India Gets Dedicated Football Channels as Zee Bags FIFA World Cup 2026 Rights
Zee Entertainment to stream FIFA World Cup 2026 via Unite8 Sports and ZEE5.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 is set to begin on June 11, bringing together the world's leading football nations for what promises to be the largest edition of the tournament in history. Fans across India will be able to follow the action through television and digital platforms after FIFA announced a long-term broadcasting partnership with Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. The agreement covers the FIFA World Cup 2026 and several other major FIFA competitions over the coming years.
The 2026 edition marks a significant milestone for international football as the tournament expands from 32 to 48 teams for the first time. A record 104 matches will be played across 16 host cities spread across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The expanded format is expected to provide greater global representation and create more opportunities for emerging football nations to compete on the sport's biggest stage.
A total of 1,248 players representing 449 clubs from 71 countries will participate in the tournament. Among them, 357 players have previously featured in FIFA World Cup squads, while 891 footballers will make their debut at the prestigious competition. The tournament will also feature four nations making their first-ever World Cup appearances—Cape Verde, Curaçao, Jordan, and Uzbekistan.

These channels are expected to carry extensive coverage of FIFA events and other international sporting competitions.
The partnership between FIFA and Zee extends beyond the 2026 World Cup. Under the agreement, Zee will also broadcast numerous global football events in India, including the FIFA Women's World Cup 2027 and the FIFA World Cup 2030. The move strengthens Zee's presence in the sports broadcasting market and expands viewing options for football fans across the country.
