India-Australia T20I at MCG Sold Out Weeks Ahead Amid Unprecedented Demand

India vs Australia T20I at MCG sells out over three weeks early, with record-breaking fan demand.

Cricket Australia (CA) announced on October 6, 2025, that public ticket allocations for the men's T20I match between Australia and India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) have been fully exhausted, more than three weeks ahead of the scheduled fixture on October 31. This unprecedented demand mirrors the rapid sell-out of public tickets for 12 days of the recent five-match Ashes series against England, underscoring the global appeal of high-profile cricket rivalries. CA highlighted that over 175,000 tickets have already been sold across the eight matches of India's white-ball tour, reflecting immense fan enthusiasm for the series.

CA CEO Todd Greenberg expressed delight at the surge: “The huge crowd anticipated for the Melbourne T20I is another strong indicator of the incredible interest in this series. We're thrilled to see fans embracing the Australia v India contest with such passion, and we look forward to delivering a world-class experience both on and off the field. To have over 175,000 tickets sold with 13 days until the first ODI in Perth is a phenomenal result. It speaks volumes about the strength of the rivalry and the enthusiasm of fans across the country.”

Public allocations for the T20Is at Sydney Cricket Ground and Manuka Oval in Canberra are also completely sold out, while the ODIs in Adelaide and the T20I at The Gabba in Brisbane are on the verge of capacity, with fewer than 5,000 public tickets remaining for each. AFL member tickets for the MCG fixture went on sale on October 6, with MCC member tickets available from October 7. This frenzy highlights the tour's massive draw, building on the historical intensity of India-Australia encounters.

India's white-ball tour kicks off with the ODI series on October 19 at Perth Stadium, followed by matches at Adelaide Oval on October 23 and Sydney Cricket Ground on October 25. The T20I leg begins on October 29 at Manuka Oval, with subsequent games at the MCG on October 31, Bellerive Oval in Hobart on November 2, Gold Coast Stadium on November 6, and The Gabba on November 8. The tour features a star-studded Indian squad led by Shubman Gill for the ODIs—featuring veterans Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli—and Suryakumar Yadav as T20I captain, promising explosive performances.

The last bilateral white-ball tour in 2020/21 saw India lose the ODI series 2-1 but clinch the T20I series by the same margin, adding layers of anticipation to this rematch. With sold-out crowds expected, the series is set to deliver thrilling cricket, reigniting one of the sport's fiercest rivalries under the southern skies.
