Hockey India’s Mega Centennial Bash: ₹70 Lakh Grants and 1,000 Matches to Ignite the Nation!

A historic November 7 festival and massive funding boost aim to revolutionize Indian hockey’s future.

Hockey India has unveiled a game-changing plan to celebrate 100 years of Indian hockey, announcing massive financial grants and a nationwide festival during its 15th Congress in Mahabalipuram. The organization is set to transform the sport’s landscape with ₹70 lakh allocated for both Senior Men’s and Senior Women’s National Championships, ₹30 lakh each for Junior and Sub-Junior categories, and ₹25 lakh per state to fuel district and state-level competitions.

These hefty grants are designed to bolster infrastructure, elevate event quality, and remove financial barriers, ensuring broader participation and nurturing grassroots talent. “This is a direct investment in the dreams of the next generation,” said Hockey India president Dilip Tirkey, emphasizing the initiative’s potential to empower thousands of emerging players, coaches, and officials.

The centennial celebrations will culminate in a spectacular nationwide festival on November 7, featuring 1,000 simultaneous matches—one men’s and one women’s game in every district—engaging over 36,000 players across India. This unprecedented event aims to unite players, fans, and communities, honoring Indian hockey’s golden legacy while sparking enthusiasm for its future.

With these bold steps, Indian hockey is poised for a vibrant new era of growth and glory.
