Piastri Wins Again! Hamilton's Ferrari Story Still Awaits Glory

McLaren triumphs at Saudi Grand Prix with Piastri coming out on top

Lewis Hamilton's Ferrari journey is still in its nascent stages, with the emphatic impact many anticipated yet to fully ignite.

The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix last night offered another chapter, but not the breakthrough Hamilton or the Tifosi would have hoped for. Hamilton, a seven-time world champion, joined Ferrari this season in a highly anticipated move after spending over a decade with Mercedes

Yesterday, starting seventh, he finished in the same position. While securing points, his performance lacked the outright pace of teammate Charles Leclerc, who claimed a podium in third.  Hamilton's struggles in Ferrari colours raise questions about his adaptation to the new team and car dynamics. Despite flashes of brilliance, including a sprint race win in China, Hamilton has yet to secure a podium finish in 2025. His best result remains the fifth-place finish in Bahrain.

While it's early in this high-profile partnership, the narrative of Hamilton needing time to fully integrate with the Ferrari ecosystem is gaining traction, with post-race comments hinting at a continued learning process.

The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix saw McLaren's Oscar Piastri take a significant victory, capitalising on a first-lap penalty for Red Bull's polesitter Max Verstappen. This win marks Piastri's third of the season and propels him into the overall lead of the championship. Verstappen ultimately finished second, despite his penalty for gaining an advantage.

Charles Leclerc secured a strong third for Ferrari. Lando Norris in the second McLaren recovered to fourth after starting tenth, highlighting McLaren's strong overall performance. George Russell finished fifth for Mercedes.

Overall in the season, Piastri leads with 99 points, followed by McLaren teammate Lando Norris with 89 points. Max Verstappen is now third with 87 points, George Russell has 73 points, Charles Leclerc sits on 47 points, Kimi Antonelli has 38 points, and Lewis Hamilton is currently seventh with 31 points. In the constructors' championship, McLaren leads with 188 points, Mercedes is second with 111 points, Red Bull Racing is third with 89 points, and Ferrari is fourth with 78 points.

While Verstappen remains a threat, McLaren's consistency is notable. For Hamilton and Ferrari, the pursuit of that first victory in red continues. The next race in Miami will be crucial for Ferrari and Hamilton as they aim to build on Leclerc's podium and turn the fortunes around.
