Assam Police Shine at World Police and Fire Games with 5 Gold, 3 Silver in Arm-Wrestling

The 2025 edition, set to conclude on Sunday, sees India ranking third in the medal tally with 373 medals, including 174 gold.

Assam Police personnel have made India proud, securing five gold and three silver medals in arm-wrestling at the ongoing World Police and Fire Games (WPFG) 2025 in Birmingham, USA, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced. “A proud moment for Assam,” Sarma posted on X, lauding the four officers for their stellar performance at the Olympic-style biennial event for first responders.

Kandarapa Borah clinched double gold in right- and left-hand categories, while Amlanjit Borthakur won gold (right) and silver (left). Junmoni Das secured gold (right) and silver (left), and Lovita Koch bagged gold (left) and silver (right). “Congratulations to the winners!” Sarma added.

The WPFG, governed by the California Police Athletic Federation and its Board of Directors, features thousands of athletes from law enforcement, firefighting, and other emergency services across over 60 sports. The 2025 edition, set to conclude on Sunday, sees India ranking third in the medal tally with 373 medals, including 174 gold, trailing the USA (811 medals, 351 gold) and Brazil (469 medals, 164 gold).

The Assam Police’s success follows the Assam Rifles’ impressive haul of 12 gold, 6 silver, and 2 bronze medals at the same games, with standout performances in karate, boxing, and athletics. These achievements highlight the discipline and prowess of Assam’s security forces on the global stage.
