Arctic Open 2025: In-Form Indian Shuttlers Eye Deep Runs in Finland

Arctic Open 2025, begins on Tuesday in Vantaa, Finland

World Championship medalists Lakshya Sen and Kidambi Srikanth will lead India’s campaign at the Arctic Open 2025, beginning Tuesday in Vantaa, Finland. The BWF Super 500 tournament will see some of the biggest names in world badminton competing. Sen, who reached his first final of the year in Hong Kong last month, aims to go one step further this time after struggling with early-round exits earlier in the season.

Srikanth Eyes Return To Winning Form

Former world number one Kidambi Srikanth enters the Arctic Open with renewed confidence after reaching the semifinals at the Al Ain Masters and the finals at the Malaysia Masters earlier this year. His recent performances suggest a steady return to form, and he will look to capitalize on this momentum to make a deep run in Finland.

Young Guns And New Hopes

Rising star Ayush Shetty, who made headlines by clinching the US Open title in June — India’s only BWF World Tour victory this year — will open his campaign against Paris 2024 silver medallist Kunlavut Vitidsarn. Joining the men’s singles roster are Tharun Mannepalli, Kiran George, and S Sankar Muthusamy Subramanian, adding depth to India’s promising squad.

New Faces In Women’s And Mixed Events

With PV Sindhu opting out, the women’s singles challenge will be led by young talents Tanya Hemanth and Anmol Kharb, supported by qualifier Kavipriya Selvam. In doubles events, Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto will headline India’s mixed doubles lineup, while Kavipriya Selvam and Simran Singhi join forces in the women’s doubles category.

Absent Stars And Historic Hopes

Asian Games gold medallists Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have withdrawn from the tournament, slightly reducing India’s doubles firepower. Notably, no Indian shuttler has ever captured the Arctic Open title. With renewed energy and promising form from the men’s singles contingent, the 2025 edition offers India’s best shot yet at making history in Finland.
