Dinesh Karthik Named Captain of India for Hong Kong Sixes

Former Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik has been appointed captain of Team India for the Hong Kong Sixes 2025 tournament, organisers announced on Tuesday. The high-energy, short-format cricket tournament is set to commence on November 7, promising a thrilling spectacle for global audiences. Karthik, a veteran wicketkeeper-batsman, brings a wealth of international experience and dynamic leadership to the role, elevating anticipation for the event’s return.

Karthik, known for his explosive batting and tactical acumen, expressed his enthusiasm for the captaincy. “It is an absolute honour leading Team India at the Hong Kong Sixes, a tournament with such rich history and global recognition,” he said. “I look forward to leading a group of players with incredible records, and together we aim to play fearless and entertaining cricket that brings joy to fans.”

His appointment follows a distinguished career, including 180 international matches for India and a reputation for delivering under pressure in formats like the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The Hong Kong Sixes, a fast-paced six-a-side tournament, has been a celebrated event since its inception in 1992, attracting top talent and enthusiastic crowds. Burji Shroff, chairperson of Cricket Hong Kong China, welcomed Karthik’s appointment, stating, “His leadership and experience will add immense value to the competition.
