Abhishek Sharma Celebrates With Shubman Gill in Prize SUV After Asia Cup Triumph
The Player of the Tournament’s luxury car celebration video with his teammate goes viral among cricket fans.
India's Asia Cup 2025 victory over Pakistan continued to spark joy off the field, as opening duo Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill turned their post-tournament celebrations into a viral sensation. Fresh from clinching the title with a five-wicket win in the final on Sunday, the Punjab-born friends hopped into Sharma's newly awarded Haval H9 SUV—his prize for being named Player of the Tournament—and captured a series of selfies that lit up social media.
The clip, shared widely on X (formerly Twitter), showcases the pair grinning ear-to-ear inside the luxurious vehicle, high-fiving and striking playful poses against the backdrop of Dubai's skyline. Fans hailed it as the ultimate display of camaraderie, with one post captioning it, "Two besties from Punjab!" The moment not only highlights their on-field synergy but also their off-field bond, forged through years in domestic cricket and now elevated by international success.
The Asia Cup triumph marked India's ninth title in the continental showpiece, solidifying their dominance in the tournament's history. Opting to bowl first under captain Suryakumar Yadav, the team dismantled Pakistan for 146, thanks to a clinical spin assault led by Kuldeep Yadav's four-wicket haul. The chase turned tense as India stumbled to 20/3, with early dismissals testing their resolve. Yet, Tilak Varma's unbeaten 69 off 51 balls—laced with three fours and four sixes—proved decisive, guiding the side home with two balls remaining.
Sharma, the 25-year-old opener, played a pivotal role throughout, amassing 314 runs across seven matches at a strike rate exceeding 140, including a blistering century in the league stage. His aggressive intent set the tone for India's batting firepower, blending calculated risks with consistency that earned him the top honours.
Receiving the Haval H9, a premium mid-size SUV valued at around Rs 25 lakh with advanced features like all-wheel drive and a panoramic sunroof, Sharma wasted no time in sharing the joy. Joined by Gill, his opening partner and close confidant from Punjab's cricket circuit, the duo's impromptu photoshoot inside the car symbolised more than just personal achievement—it reflected the team's unbreakable spirit.
Their friendship, often compared to legendary pairs like Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly for its mutual support, has been instrumental in stabilising India's top order amid transitions post-Rohit Sharma's retirement earlier this year. The video's rapid spread, garnering over a million views within hours, underscores the growing fanbase for women's and men's cricket alike, blending athletic prowess with relatable human moments.

During the awards ceremony, Sharma reflected on his journey with humility, crediting team backing for his fearless approach. "Getting a car is always a pleasure... But if you see, we had a plan to show intent from the first ball. "I worked really hard on that," he said. "You need special support from your coach and captain... If I do well, it's for my team to win." He acknowledged the risks of aggressive play but emphasised sticking to the process, a mindset that propelled India through the tournament.
As the team returns home to hero's welcomes—much like Tilak Varma's parade in Hyderabad—the selfies serve as a light-hearted coda to a campaign defined by resilience and rivalry. With the ODI World Cup looming in October, such bonds could prove key in India's quest for global glory.
