Vijay Mallya Congratulates RCB on X After They Beat Gujarat Titans in IPL 2026 Final
Vijay Mallya praised RCB on social media after their consecutive IPL championship victory.
Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru owner Vijay Mallya congratulated the franchise after it secured its second consecutive Indian Premier League title with a five-wicket victory over Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2026 final in Ahmedabad. Taking to social media platform X, Mallya praised the team’s achievement and celebrated the back-to-back championship triumph, describing the players as “beauties” and expressing pride in their accomplishment.
In his post, Mallya wrote, "RCB, RCB…. Congratulations, double back-to-back IPL champions. Namma dodda Simhagulu roared loudly and made us all very proud. Very well done, you beauties.” The message quickly gained attention among cricket fans, many of whom recalled Mallya’s long association with the Bengaluru franchise before ownership changes over the years. His reaction came shortly after RCB completed another successful campaign by defeating Gujarat Titans in the tournament decider.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru produced a disciplined bowling performance to restrict Gujarat Titans to 155 for eight in their allotted 20 overs. Gujarat’s batting lineup struggled to build momentum after losing key wickets early, with Washington Sundar emerging as the team’s top scorer with an unbeaten half-century. RCB bowlers maintained pressure throughout the innings, preventing the Titans from posting a more competitive total on the board.

Chasing 156 for victory, RCB received a strong start through an opening partnership between Venkatesh Iyer and Virat Kohli. Kohli anchored the innings with an unbeaten 75 off 42 deliveries, striking nine boundaries and three sixes. The veteran batter reached his fastest IPL fifty in just 25 balls and remained at the crease until the end, sealing the victory with a six as Bengaluru reached the target in 18 overs.
The triumph marked another significant milestone for the franchise, which successfully defended the IPL title it won the previous season. Captain Rajat Patidar dedicated the championship victory to supporters who lost their lives during the tragic stampede that occurred outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium during celebrations following RCB’s maiden IPL title win in 2025. His remarks added an emotional dimension to the team’s latest success.
RCB’s victory further strengthened the franchise’s standing as one of the leading teams in the competition. While Gujarat Titans struggled to recover from early setbacks in the final, Bengaluru showcased a balanced performance with both bat and ball. The back-to-back championship win is expected to be remembered as one of the most successful periods in the franchise’s history, with players, fans, and former stakeholders joining in celebrations following the title-clinching performance.
