Yuvraj Singh Reportedly To Join Coaching Staff In IPL 2027 Season
Yuvraj Singh expected to begin coaching journey in IPL 2027.
Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh is reportedly set to begin his coaching career in the Indian Premier League (IPL), with sources indicating that he may join the support staff of the Delhi Capitals ahead of IPL 2027. The development marks a potential new chapter for one of India’s most celebrated limited-overs cricketers, who has remained closely associated with the sport since his retirement.
According to reports, the move is being actively backed by former India captain Sourav Ganguly, who is expected to return to a key role within the franchise’s support setup under the upcoming ownership cycle. The Delhi Capitals structure is set to undergo changes as JSW Group takes over operational control for the next two-year cycle, beginning with IPL 2027.
The franchise is jointly owned by the GMR Group and JSW Group, with operational control alternating between the two stakeholders every two years. As GMR handled operations during the 2025 and 2026 seasons, JSW is expected to take charge from 2027, triggering a possible reshuffle in coaching and management roles.

Under the previous setup, Ganguly served as Director of Cricket, while Hemang Badani was appointed head coach. However, after two seasons without playoff qualification, the franchise is reportedly reviewing its performance structure. The team, led by captain Axar Patel, finished fifth in IPL 2025 and sixth in IPL 2026 despite featuring high-profile players including KL Rahul, Mitchell Starc, and Kuldeep Yadav.
The underwhelming results have led to speculation over changes in the coaching setup, with Badani’s position said to be under review. Reports suggest that Ganguly is expected to play a more prominent role again in the upcoming cycle and is keen on bringing Yuvraj Singh into the dugout to strengthen the team’s support staff.
Ganguly’s recent coaching stint with the Pretoria Capitals in the SA20 league, where he guided the team to the final, is also seen as an indicator of his continued involvement in franchise cricket. If confirmed, Yuvraj Singh’s entry into coaching would add another high-profile name to the IPL’s evolving support ecosystem ahead of the 2027 season.
