WPL 2026 DC vs MI: Jemimah Rodrigues' Unbeaten 51 Guides Delhi Capitals Past Mumbai Indians

Jemimah Rodrigues' 51* leads DC to a seven-wicket WPL 2026 win.

Jemimah Rodrigues produced a composed and match-winning knock to steer Delhi Capitals to a much-needed seven-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians in the Women’s Premier League on Tuesday. Chasing a competitive target on a slow surface, Rodrigues anchored the innings with an unbeaten half-century, ensuring Delhi crossed the line with an over to spare.

Put in to bat, Mumbai Indians once again struggled during the powerplay before Nat Sciver-Brunt delivered a standout performance. Her unbeaten 66 off 45 balls, laced with six fours and two sixes, helped Mumbai reach 154 for five. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur provided valuable support with a fluent 41 off 33 balls as the pair attempted to rescue the innings after early setbacks.

Delhi Capitals began their chase positively through openers Lizelle Lee and Shafali Verma. Lee scored a brisk 46 off 28 balls while Shafali added 29 off 24, giving Delhi early momentum. However, the run rate dipped in the middle overs as wickets fell in quick succession, allowing Mumbai to claw their way back into the contest.

Rodrigues then took control, displaying maturity and calm under pressure. Her unbeaten 51 off 37 deliveries stabilized the chase and kept the scoreboard moving. Veteran all-rounder Marizanne Kapp played a crucial supporting role, finishing the match in style with a six and remaining unbeaten on 10 off six balls.

Earlier, Delhi’s bowlers had laid the foundation for the win. Kapp was particularly impressive, conceding just eight runs in her four overs and dismissing Hayley Matthews. Mumbai’s powerplay woes continued as both Matthews and Sajeevan Sajana were dismissed cheaply, a recurring issue despite Matthews’ return from injury.

The result marked Delhi Capitals’ second win in five matches, while Mumbai Indians slumped to their fourth defeat in six outings. Reflecting on the loss, Mumbai skipper Harmanpreet Kaur admitted her side needs to improve its powerplay performances with both bat and ball to stay competitive as the tournament progresses.
