Sunrisers Hyderabad Posts Mammoth 286/6 Against Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025 Match 2

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) unleashed a batting masterclass, scoring a colossal 286/6 in 20 overs against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the second match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. After RR elected to field, SRH’s explosive lineup, led by a scintillating 106 off 47 balls from Ishan Kishan, set a daunting target for the Royals, who are yet to bat.

The innings began with fireworks as openers Abhishek Sharma (24 off 11) and Travis Head (67 off 31) raced to 45 in just 3.1 overs before Sharma fell to Maheesh Theekshana. Head continued the onslaught, smashing nine fours and three sixes, until Tushar Deshpande dismissed him in the 10th over. Kishan then took charge, anchoring the innings with an unbeaten 106, featuring 11 fours and six sixes, at a strike rate of 225.5. His partnership with Nitish Kumar Reddy (30 off 15) added 72 runs, pushing SRH past 200.

Heinrich Klaasen (34 off 14) provided a late surge, but Deshpande struck twice in the 19th over, removing Aniket Verma (7 off 3) and Abhinav Manohar (0 off 1), finishing with figures of 3/44. Sandeep Sharma claimed Klaasen, while Theekshana’s 2/52 included key scalps. Jofra Archer (0/76) and Fazalhaq Farooqi (0/49) bore the brunt of SRH’s aggression, with the team maintaining a commanding run rate of 14.30.

With Pat Cummins unbeaten on 0, SRH’s total of 286/6 sets a steep challenge for RR’s batting lineup, led by stand-in captain Riyan Parag, as they aim to chase this towering score in the second innings.
