RCB Captain Patidar Provides Fitness Update on Virat Kohli After 18-Run Win Over MI

Patidar confirmed Kohli appears fine after the RCB star skipped fielding against Mumbai Indians.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Rajat Patidar has provided a reassuring update on the fitness of star batter Virat Kohli following their 18-run victory over the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League 2026 clash at Wankhede Stadium. Kohli, who played a key role with the bat, did not take the field during the opposition’s innings, raising concerns about a possible injury.

Addressing the situation after the match, Patidar said there was no immediate cause for alarm. He stated that while he did not have complete details, Kohli appeared to be “okay right now", offering relief to fans and the team management. The veteran batter was seen off the field wearing a jacket, which had sparked speculation regarding his fitness during the game.

Despite Kohli’s absence from the field, RCB delivered a commanding performance to secure the win. The team posted a massive total of 240/4, powered by half-centuries from Phil Salt, Kohli, and Patidar himself. The strong opening partnership between Salt and Kohli laid the foundation, keeping RCB in control throughout the innings.

Patidar credited the team’s clarity in batting roles and praised the overall effort, highlighting how the early momentum set the tone for the match. He also spoke about the unique experience of playing at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, noting the electrifying atmosphere and passionate crowd support as key elements that added to the intensity of the contest.

In response, Mumbai Indians put up a spirited chase but ultimately fell short, finishing at 222/5. A brilliant unbeaten 71 off 31 balls by Sherfane Rutherford kept them in contention, but the target proved too steep. RCB bowlers managed to deliver crucial breakthroughs at key moments to maintain their advantage.

Patidar also reflected on his own batting preferences, stating that while he has often been associated with playing spin well, he equally enjoys facing pace. His impressive form this season underlines his growing importance in the RCB lineup, as the team continues to build momentum despite minor fitness concerns surrounding key players like Kohli.
