Rajasthan Royals Troll Salman Khan's 12-Year-Old Post After Victory Over Punjab Kings
Rajasthan Royals defeat Punjab Kings, with Donovan Ferreira referencing Salman Khan's old social media jab.
Rajasthan Royals mixed humour with celebration after their dramatic IPL 2026 victory over Punjab Kings, posting a playful social media video in which batter Donovan Ferreira appeared to apologise to Bollywood star Salman Khan. The caption referenced an old post linked to Punjab Kings and quickly gained traction online following Rajasthan’s successful chase of 223 runs.
The Royals defeated Punjab Kings by chasing down the imposing target with four balls to spare, handing the hosts their first loss of the season. South African all-rounder Donovan Ferreira emerged as the match-winner with an unbeaten 52 off 26 deliveries, producing a late assault that swung momentum decisively in Rajasthan’s favour. He was promoted in the batting order in the absence of Shimron Hetmyer and capitalised fully.
After the match, the Rajasthan Royals shared a video in which Ferreira said, “Sorry bhai, aaj nahi,” a light-hearted nod to Salman Khan. The post referenced a 12-year-old social media message from the actor during Punjab’s 2014 playoff campaign. That earlier remark, asking whether “Zinta’s team won", has since become a recurring meme whenever Punjab Kings feature in high-profile matches.

Rajasthan’s chase looked difficult when they needed 71 runs from the final six overs. Ferreira then launched a calculated counterattack alongside Shubham Dubey, who remained unbeaten on 31 from just 12 balls. The pair struck boundaries consistently and dismantled Punjab’s death-bowling plans, combining aggression with composure under pressure. Their stand transformed the contest in a matter of overs.
Earlier in the innings, young batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi had given Rajasthan a rapid start with 43 runs off only 16 balls. His innings included five sixes and placed early pressure on Punjab’s bowling unit. Despite that, Punjab spinner Yuzvendra Chahal had briefly pulled the game back with figures of 3 for 36, raising hopes of defending the total.
The result ended the Punjab Kings’ unbeaten streak in IPL 2026 and provided a timely reminder of the unpredictability of T20 cricket. For Rajasthan Royals, the victory could prove significant in the race for playoff positions, while their witty social media response ensured the celebration extended beyond the field and into the digital spotlight.
